Cleveland Cavaliers players Anderson Varejao, Jamario Moon, Daniel Gibson and Leon Powe were joined by Lake Erie Monsters hockey players Phil Dupuis, Darren Haydar, Wes O'Neill and Tyler Weiman on December 14th as they hosted 40 families from Cleveland Christian Home's Agape Independent Living and School Based Programs for a special night of holiday fun at Quicken Loans Arena.
The families visited a Christmas Tree Farm set up inside The Q, and with help from the players, selected their own pre-lit trees courtesy of Walmart, to take home.
Cavs guard Daniel Gibson helped pick out ornaments to decorate their tree and forward Leon Powe was a master at preparing the hot chocolate.
Lake Erie Monsters Wes O'Neill and Darren Haydar helped the kids make special Christmas cookies and all the athletes posed for pictures and gave autographs to the excited children and their families.
And of course, Santa Claus was on hand as well.
Congratulations to the Cavs and Monster players for giving back to the community and giving the kids and their families a holiday they will never forget.
What a terrific event and what a terrific bunch of guys. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
