Borders on the wall?

Q. What do you think of borders on a wall? Some people tell me they're old fashioned, but I like them.

A. It depends on what borders, for me. They can get way too "cutesie" or "themed."

Borders are supposed to be a replacement for moldings and compliment the architecture- not be the star.

Instead, try painting the ceiling a color, then add a complimentary stripe on the wall at the ceiling. I have also used bamboo as a molding or a cord/trim. Rope works also.
