The ABC's of Moles

Q. How do you know if a mole is suspect, other than jagged edges?

A.To self-exam your skin, use the ABC's of looking at moles. Warning signs include:

A - Asymmetry

Irregularity in the overall shape of the mole (not round, i.e. left side of mole is bigger than the right)

B - Borders

Jagged or irregular (not smooth) borders

C- Colors

Multiple colors or unevenness of color within one mole - i.e. brown/black/red

D - Diameter

Greater than 5mm - larger than pencil eraser
