The following are on the agenda for the 2007 ClevelandWomen.com Leadership Event.
Kim Wheeler of WKYC-TV
Kim is the weekday morning anchor and education/parenting reporter for Channel 3 News. Kim has volunteered in the Cleveland Schools and at her son’s school. In addition, through her news stories, she worked with John Carroll University students to build a new playground for Margaret Ireland Elementary students.She also stays involved with education and adoption issues.
Successful Attorney and Entrepreneur Cathy Horton
Cathy has spent over 20 years cultivating a global mergers & acquisitions and venture finance legal practice, serving a myriad of clients that range from the Fortune 100 companies to emerging and mid-market enterprises. She spent 15 years in London, where she developed a passion for technology in the emerging companies' market place. Cathy is the founder and leader of the Red Room Revolution, a set of 20 economic development initiatives structured to transform the Northeast Ohio Region using a technology platform. She also is a founder of the Beta Strategy Group and Beta Opportunity Partners Fund which has made a commitment to fund 24 technology companies. To date, Cathy has funded 6 companies and founded 5 of her own.
Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones
Unfortunately, it appears that Congresswoman Tubbs Jones will be in Washington DC for a vote on Friday. In that event, the Congresswoman will be sending a her key Cleveland office representative, Linda Frasier, instead. The Congresswoman is eager to work with the Leadership Class and hopes her schedule allows her to participate at the 2008 kickoff event. Other Speakers and Panelists (random order)
Dr. Linda Eisenmann, Dean of College of Arts & Science, John Carroll University
Natalie Rudd RN, BSN Cleveland ClinicNatalie Rudd graduated from Hampton University School of Nursing in Hampton, Virginia. She has been a Registered Nurse at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation for over 13 years. For 10 years Natalie worked as a Nurse Clinician in the Cerebrovascular Center where her primary focus was educating patients on primary and secondary stroke prevention. Currently she is transitioning into the role of Community Health Educator where she will be able to continue to develop her passion for teaching. Natalie will talk about girls making good health choices now that will affect them all their lives. She will also address the choices she made to get her where she is today.
Lynn Basconi of Ciuni & PanichiMs. Basconi is a Senior Manager in the firm's Management Advisory Services Department. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accountancy from Miami University. Lynn will be speaking on financial budgeting/planning for the future and making good financial decisions.
Lyndsey Walker, is the managing editor for Inside Business magazine, the publication for business professionals in Northeast Ohio, at Great Lakes Publishing Co. In addition to editing articles, she focuses primarily on the production process in meeting print deadlines. Lyndsey began with Great Lakes Publishing in November 2005 as an associate editor. Beth Stallings, editor of West Shore MagazineBeth Stallings is editor of West Shore magazine, a bi-monthly publication for 15 communities on the West Side of Cleveland. She has been with Great
Lakes Publishing since December 2006, starting as an associate editor with Inside Business magazine.
Lori HirschLicensed Benefit Consultant of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue ShieldI have lived in Northern Ohio for the past 5 years. I have been working at Anthem for almost a year. Prior to that I was a full time student at Univ of Akron, graduated in May 06 with a BS in Biology. I have been attending college off and on for the last 20 years and finally graduated. While attending school (UA) I also was self employed, I had a Company called "Two Girls and a Truck". It was a hauling company basically, we cleaned out people's basements and garages. While I was running this business, I thought sales may be a good thing to get into, so I started to look into health insurance sales. I found a job with Anthem and love it. I also have an eight yr. old daughter named River, who is the light of my life. DeLiska (Dee) Mcghee is a 1992 graduate of Euclid High School. She is currently pursuing her bachelors degree while working as an Assistant Vice President and Branch Sales Manager at Amtrust Bank. Active in several economically challenged communities, Dee wears many hats in the professional ad social realm. However, she considers her most important role in life to be raising her two sons, ages 8 and 7.
Kristen Kaleal, Image and Style ExpertKristen Kaleal is ClevelandWomen.com's style expert. Kristen is the president of the Association of Image Consultants International Ohio-Pennsylvania Chapter and she can regularly be seen locally on TV and in the newspapers and magazines. She has been featured in Inside Business, Northern Ohio Live and Cleveland Magazine. She is often quoted in the Plain Dealer.
