Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin are the authors of the book Skinny Bitch which gave a brassy and sassy tone to changing the kind of food women eat. They are back with another book that focuses on the expecting mother - Skinny Bitch Bun in the Oven: A Gutsy Guide to Becoming One Hot (and Healthy) Mother!
.
You will see the same tough language like "So you're knocked up, huh? Congratulations." Some will enjoy the irreverent tone and others won't. It is consistent throughout the book - even in chapter titles like Sugar is Satan, Carbs: Eat 'em Dumb-ass and What the Hell to Eat.
The What the Hell to Eat chapter lists some of the food you can eat - because they tell you not to eat "chicken, pigs, fish, milk, cheese or eggs." That leaves "fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds and whole grains." Basically a Vegan Diet. If that works for you, they list a 4 week meal plan.
The recommendations are certainly not the mainstream dietary guidelines you will get from traditional medicine and government charts. As they say in a disclaimer (which they call a Bitchclaimer) "We're not gynos, so be sure to talk to your doctor about any of our recommendations."
