Another great week for the Cavs! We won all three games this week and Lebron James was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the second week in a row!
The week began in with a 99-93 win over Milwaukee on Tuesday. One of the Bucks' lead scorers, Michael Redd, was out, but it didn't mean the Cavs didn't have to work hard for their win, but Lebron's 41 points combined with Mo's 16, Z's 15 and 10 rebounds, and Anderson Varejao's 13 secured the fifth straight win for the Cavs.
The winning streak continued on Thursday with a 110-99 win against Denver. Mo Williams was the Cavs' lead scorer for this game with 24, followed by Lebron with 22. Boobie Gibson had his best game so far this season with 15. Ben Wallace was also a high scorer on Thursday, with 11, his highest so far this season, and Z and Wally each contributed 10.
The Cavs brought in a win once again on Wednesday night against the Utah Jazz. I was in town this weekend, so I actually got to go to this game, and boy was I glad I did! Not only was it Sasha Pavlovic's 25th birthday (of course I made a sign, and I got on the jumbo-tron!), but it was also one our most intense games this season.
We started off really well in the first quarter, seemingly easily beating the Jazz who were without Kirilenko, Okur, and Williams, but in the second quarter, the Jazz caught up and held a lead over us for quite a while. The third quarter, in my opinion, was great for us. Usually I'm disappointed with the Cavs' third quarter, but we played it almost like a fourth quarter, it was very intense! By the fourth quarter, in which we played even better than the third, the crowd was going crazy, with 'MVP' chants every time Lebron got to the line and the 'boos' for Boozer were intensifying by the second!
Lebron had 38 points, and almost hit his magic number of 41 once again, but missed a three-pointer in the last few minutes of the game. This game also saw a lot of buzzer shots; the Jazz hit buzzer shots at the end of the first and second quarters, and Boobie Gibson hit one at the end of the third. And don't worry, the Cavs won this game 105-93, meaning that everyone there gets a free chalupa!
This week was certainly satisfactory for the Cavs. We even saw some more minutes from JJ Hickson and Sasha Pavlovic. Boobie's game seems to be heating up, and Lebron's on fire right now. The Cavs hope to continue their seven game winning streak this week, Tuesday against the New Jersey Nets, Wednesday against the Detroit Pistons, and Saturday, at home once again, against Atlanta.
I think we can take the Nets, who are 4-5 right now, pretty easily, but you never know, there's always chance for an upset. I predict that the hardest game this week will be against the Pistons, one of our Eastern Conference rivals, who recently acquired Allen Iverson and have a pretty good record at 7-3. The game's on their home court, but we're really playing well right now, so I definitely think we have a good shot at winning.
Saturday poses another threat to our winning streak at home. We have yet to lose a home game, and I think we have a good chance at maintaining this against the Hawks, who won their first six games, but are in a bit of a slump, losing the last three.
It should be another exciting week! Once again, I'd love to get your feedback! GO CAVS!
