We visited for lunch March, 2009. I have been to this restaurant many times for weddings and other events in the evening. We had been told they served lunches, but never went. Boy, what we were missing!
Sterle's is are closed on Mondays and hours differ on other days, so be sure and call. We had recorded music during lunch, but there is often live music on Fridays and Saturdays.
The waitresses were dressed in authentic "old country" garb and even though they were extremely busy, they were very friendly. We were surprised at how many people were there at noon on a Wednesday.
The food was very good and the portions were more than ample.
The lunch menu is much less expensive than the dinner menu, and it is hard to imagine the dinner portion is much larger.
As an example Wienerschnitzel at lunchtime is $9.75 and comes with soup or salad, a choice of potatoes and bread and butter. The same Weinerschnitzel with the same accompaniments at dinner time is $15.95 for a full order or $14.45 for a half order.
There are also more choices at dinner, but the lunch menu still has plenty to choose from. If you are able to pass up the wonderful old world dinners they also offer sandwiches, soup, salad and omelets.
Family style service is available for weddings, meetings and private parties.
I had the Wienerschnitzel with chicken noodle soup and home fried potatoes. One guest had stuffed cabbage with cabbage soup, mashed potatoes and green beans. Another guest had Slovenian Sausage and Sauerkraut. He had apple strudel for dessert. It was all delicious.
Special Tip: The parking lot is gated and large, but was full when we left at 1:30 p.m. It is very senior friendly: there are no steps, the wash rooms, coat rooms and eating area are all on the first floors. The building does have a second floor which may be used at busier times. If steps are an issue, be sure to check before you go.
Special Tip:They have daily specials that will save you a dollar or two. On our visit, the Stuffed Cabbage was the daily special.
