Meet Bridget Cook
Our Expert Pastry Chef
Hi! My name is Bridget Cook and I am a Pastry Chef.
I graduated in 1999 from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park New York. Since graduation I have worked at a restaurant in my hometown of Geneva, downtown Cleveland at the Ciao Cucina (now Stars) and currently I have been with the Mentor Harbor Yacht Club for nearly five years.
Mentor Harbor is great! Everything is personalized and we do everything from picnics to wedding cakes! During our slow season we have cooking/baking classes.
I chose my career as a Pastry Chef because of its broad spectrum. It's therapeutic and business orientated and people friendly all at the same time. And I love the feeling of sheer happiness when I have just made someone's wedding or anniversary cake or a little curly haired boy's first birthday cake. (That would be Andrew, my son!)
If you feel the urge to be crafty with cakes, I say go for it. Take a Wilton cake decorating class, maybe check out some cake books at your local library or pick up a few items at the store. Then Ready! Set! Bake!
I will be writing about everything from the right utensils and gadgets to techniques and recipes. If you have questions, please send them to me. I'd like to know what you're interested in. If you have problems with a certain recipe, send me the recipe and the problem and I'll see what I can do. I love being a Pastry Chef and I want to share the fun with all of you.
