Ingredients:
- 1 ¼ cup flour
- ½ tsp. Baking powder
- ½ tsp. Salt
- ¼ cup butter
- ¼ cup shortening
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 egg
- ½ tsp. Vanilla extract
- ¼ cup chopped maraschino cherries
- 1 cup shredded coconut
- ½ cup chopped pecans
Instructions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
- Cream together butter, shortening and salt.
- Ass egg and vanilla.
- Beat well
- Blend in dry ingredients gradually and mix thoroughly
- Add cherries, coconut and pecans and mix well.
- Lightly grease baking sheets (not necessary if using non-stick sheets)
- Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto baking sheets
- Flatten slightly.
- Top each cookie with a quarter maraschino cherry.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes.
NOTE: Makes about 2 1/2 dozen cookies (I always double or quadruple!)
